The project Migrant Voices. Fighting against linguistic discrimination from artistic and cultural spaces in Spain, just published their new web and Instagram. Check them out!
This project is funded by the European Union, within the framework provided by the Marie Skłodowska fellowship, and its lead researchers are Lara Alonso and Luisa Martín Rojo. Migrant Voices aims at locating and analyzing works of art and discourses where artists with a migrant background but settled in Spain challenge hegemonic ideas on the languages that discriminate them and that exclude them from spaces of political, civic and labor participation. The goal of this project is to learn from those examples where migrant, racially-profiled and diaspora voices–usually unheard–have gained public influence in society through art and culture, and have managed to challenge and/or transform the prejudices they are affected from.
