In MIRCo, we do research and intervention in contexts where languages (how they are managed, the hierarchies that exist, the knowledge and linguistic values…) reproduce situations of social inequality. In this broad spectrum of phenomena and situations, minoritized languages are specially vulnerable. In 2024 we have created spaces to allow for critical reflections. We invited Rufián to speak about how languages have been, to him, tools for integration in the Catalan society.
In the Roundtable Multilingualism in Parliament. Back and forth with the earpiece, organized by MIRCo, along with the Institut Ramon Llull, we discussed all these issues. Another example is the one from another guest, Gerardo Pisarello.
That’s because languages are not only economic capital, but tools to communicate, to integrate, to create, to build communities and people.
