Clara Molina
This Video-travel notebook 6 shows the impressions and travel experiences of researcher Clara Molina in Colombia, during her research stay under the European project of activist and researchers exchange ReDes_Ling: Resistir la Desigualdad Lingüística (Staff Exchanges, ref. 1011131469). It is followed by a second release on the research stay in San Cristóbal de las Casas (México). Thus, we continue with the series “Travel Notebook”, published by the MIRCo Research Center, to reflect on ethnographic experiences and exchanges that encouraged this project. This time, with an innovative format.
In this research we understand linguistic inequality and aim to reverse it. We underline different patterns of inequality as:
- The asymmetric relation between linguistic groups that translates into social differences, economic disadvantages, unequal access to rights, lack of material and emotional well-being or inability to develop one’s potential (Bonnin, 2013).
- The linguistic discrimination is as generalized as other discriminatory patterns based on race, ethnicity, sexuality or gender (Baugh, 2003; Lippi-Green, 1997; Urciuoli, 1996).
