The MIRCo General Assembly, the main space of the center to gather all its members, took place on November 11th in a hybrid format, both at UAM and online.
This time, apart from presenting the Annual Report, we debated on how to intervene to transform linguistic education. We invited some members to discuss already executed initiatives, so they can share their goals, strategies, results, difficulties and how they overcame them. They are Ofelia García, on the education to teachers outside formal contexts; Gabriela Prego, on how to teach critical sociolinguistics; Ben Rampton, on coalitions and transversal calls for action; and Hector Grad, Luisa M. Rojo and Clara Molina, on the dilemmas surrounding the institutional intervention. Arising from the discussion and after the debate, we proposed joint and specific actions that will engage MIRCo for the remainder of this academic year.
We encourage you to keep track of MIRCO’s socials, so you can check how the outcomes of the assembly are projected into the future!
