On May 11th, the Faculty of Philosophy and Languages will host a conference dedicated to the memory of Xosé Álvarez and the Conceyu d’Asturies in Madrid. It will take place from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. in the Aula Historicista (Module X) of the faculty.
This event consists of two activities. First, the documentary “Xosé Álvarez y el Conceyu d’Asturies en Madrid” will be screened, which explores the figure of Xosé Álvarez and his role in shaping the Asturian cultural movement in the capital, as well as the historical context in which his work unfolded, with special emphasis on the celebration of the 50th anniversary of the UAM Festival of the Iberian Peoples, of which Álvarez was a promoter.
Next, there will be a roundtable discussion titled “Co-official Languages during the Transition Period,” moderated by Laura Villa (MIRCo). This discussion will address the role of co-official languages in Spain’s recent history.
