The presentation by MIRCo guest researcher Carlos Bem Gonçalves is available to watch online

Last May 21st, MIRCo-UAM hosted a lecture by its visiting scholar, Carlos Bem Gonçalves, a postdoctoral researcher at the Federal University of Santa Catarina (Brazil).

In this presentation, titled “The Grammar of Hate: Language, Gender, and the Production of Enemies in the Brazilian Far Right,” Carlos presented the results of his previous research, in which he examines how issues related to gender and sexuality are exploited to generate moral panic and consolidate Bolsonarism as a political and discursive regime. All of this is approached from a methodological perspective grounded in ethnography, linguistic anthropology, and discourse studies.

Given the interest generated by the topics discussed and the importance of this issue, we are sharing a recording of the presentation, available at the following link: https://zoom.us/rec/share/qYi0L6GtB64E3Uzcw8-ZOb97mJ4bOCFP6cAaVbw9_TkI1KVThYmOYglu9VSWbAai.pct1nlHFTcucJV50
