On March 16th, the Department of General Linguistics at the Faculty of Philosophy and Languages, in collaboration with the MIRCo-UAM center, organized a lecture by renowned linguist Stephen Marlett, titled “The Seri Language of Mexico: History, Present, and Future.” Marlett was accompanied by Manuel Alcántara, Dean of the Faculty and a member of MIRCo-UAM, as well as ethnomalacologist Catherine Marlett.
This lecture addressed very interesting topics, not only regarding the Seri language but also the survival of languages over time. Given the interest these issues generate and the significance of this visit, we are sharing the recording of the lecture, available on YouTube.
