On June 13, the new episode of the “Atado y Bien Atado” podcast from eldiario.es was recorded. This time, the topic is linguistic repression during the Franco regime, specifically how the Franco regime established a variety of Castilian Spanish—the one historically associated with the imperial project—as the sole official language, closely linking homeland and language.
However, this episode emphasizes linguistic resistance—how the other languages of the state survived thanks to underground networks and cultural expressions. Ultimately, the podcast explores the memory of linguistic resistance in the face of Francoist uniformity, which sought to eradicate plurinational and cultural diversity by persecuting linguistic diversity.
