The Center for the Study of Language in Society brings together a group of professors, researchers, and scholars focused on the use of language in contemporary society. In a context in which communication plays an increasingly crucial role in the development of communities, and in which language studies offer new theoretical and methodological perspectives for understanding society, this Center seeks to establish itself as a national and international benchmark in these areas of practice.
Visita su webThe Center of Excellence «Multilingualism and Language Policy» is based in the Faculty of Philosophy, which consists of 13 departments offering undergraduate and postgraduate studies in the Humanities. Among these departments are the departments of foreign languages and philologies which cooperate with each other, as well as with the department of (Greek) philology, with the department of Turkish studies and modern Asian studies of the School of Economics and Political Sciences, and with several academic units from other Greek and foreign universities for many years.

Visita su webThe Critical Sociolinguistics Study Group (GESC), part of the Faculty of Philosophy and Humanities at the University of Chile, seeks to create a space for knowledge production around the intersection of issues of language and society (economy, politics, power, identity, education, etc.), addressing them from a critical perspective, that is, taking into account a contextualization of these issues in power dynamics, both within the framework of society in general and of the disciplines and specialists that address them.

Its research trajectory is multi-focused and multi-methodological, and we carry out both public and funded projects with companies.

Visita su webWith enthusiasm alive to the successful outcome of our First Meeting on Ethnomusicology—organized by the Intercultural University of Chiapas under the auspices of Dr. Andrés Fábregas Puig, then rector of that institution—at the closing ceremony, some of the participants agreed to create a collaborative network to continue the reflection on the socioeconomic and cultural dynamics related to the production, reproduction, and reception of music, and, in general, to ensure that the magnificent dialogue that had taken place between researchers and musicians would not be considered a one-off.

With highly qualified staff, since 2004 the Centre has been developing into a reputable organization.
