Last March 5th, the MIRCo-UAM Center and the UAM Foundation (FUAM) co-hosted the Innovation Coffee “Debating language and social inequality”, where we offered a space to reflect on why, in spite of its impact on daily life, linguistic inequalities still have a marginal place on the public debate.
In this event, we were joined by different speakers and guests:
- Rocio Schettini, general director at FUAM, who will give a welcome speech.
- Luisa M. Rojo, Linguistics Professor at UAM and director of MIRCo, who will moderate the debate.
- Mario Obrero, poet and essayist.
- Antonio Vico, journalist, producer and scriptwriter at Cadena SER.
- Silvia Ramírez Monroy, artist, researcher and editor at La Parcería.
After the interesting topics proposed by our director, Luisa M. Rojo, all of the speakers were able to give their points of view on the issues brought up, as an starting point for a debate with the attendees, both in person and online. To share our conclusions and spread our experiences, we now share the live recording of the event here (available in Spanish):
